The Journey

The night before the trip both Nick and Tom were on the phone back and forth, so excited about the trip. I think he got about two hours of sleep that night and I thought for sure it would hit him on his Detroit to Amsterdam leg of the trip. They left with Dub on 10.28 at about 1120 am from DFW. They had a three hour flight to Detroit, had a two hour layover, then 8 hour flight to Amsterdam, of course Nick had no sleep. They had a two hour layover then another 8 hour flight to Kenya where he finally got some sleep. He called me about 1pm from Kenya...the longest 18hrs ive had. Weird not waking up with him there... he called from Kenya with his disposable phone to report all is great and he is exhausted. By the time it was all said and done, he had been traveling for 26 hours. They went to a "motel 6" type of place where they showered and are getting some rest before their 5 hour road (well dirt road) trip to Wamba where they will begin their mission. They will be staying in mud huts, with no running water or electricity. They will have a translator, a driver and someone to do their cooking for them. I will keep you posted as I hear from Nick. Apparantly the phone he has will work in the village. Thanks to all for your support!
