back in Nairobi
After a short day in the National forest, the men headed back to Nairobi where they checked into their hotel. They finally were able to take HOT showers! They did not see many animals on their safari but still enjoyed the time and the sights. Tomorrow they are going to head into town to get some shopping done. It sounds like they had a great time but also sounds like they are ready to return home. Nick said he has journaled quite a bit and is excited to share his experiences. Stay tuned for the final post (at least by me!)on Tuesday! They will be leaving Nairobi about 2pm Dallas time on Tuesday! Yea!

Leaving Wamba
The men left Wamba today and took Regina, one of the ladies that cooked and cleaned for them, back home to her village.. They spoke to the people in the village there and then left for Eciolo, another town. They went from their mud huts at 2 bucks a night to their "five star" hotel where they are paying about 15 bucks a night, however...they have hot and cold running water and places to plug in their electronics! A week with no running water or electricity...could not even imagine!
Tomorrow they are getting up quite early and going to the Samburu National forest to see the sights of Africa! I am so excited to see the pics! Monday they head to Nairobi to spend the night and then wake up and hang out Tuesday until their flight!

last day in the field
Very quick phone call today, dinner was on the way. This will be the shortest post but also im sure the most powerful! They went to three villages today and there were not many people there. However, one of the villages they encountered was full of elders and a "chief". After speaking to them about the Lord, the elders said this is exactly what they had been looking for and they wanted our men to send someone back to help them start and build a church!!!! So exciting! They leave tomorrow for The National Forest! Im so happy, excited and proud of my hubby! I miss him terribly and have a new found respect for Military wives. There is just no way I could handle my husband being gone for such long periods of time...Thank you for following the journey and God Bless!

Day 6 in the field day 8 on the trip
Three calls today from Africa! First was to say good morning and Nick was able to speak with Layne, they are both missing each other, was so cute. He had to go because dinner was ready. He called back for about 2 minutes then had to go again because his hot water was ready for his "shower". Then finally around noon (just before he went to bed) we spoke for about 12 minutes. Things went ok last night for them and today as well. They did not get robbed, which was a huge worry for them. The guys that were talking all the talk had "checked out" of the hotel and left. However they overheard that during the day today, another truck was held up and robbed, but they let the people go, just took all of their stuff. Please keep prayers going though, they are not home yet!
They did not find many people today only about 20 or so but all came to Christ. This seems to be the norm when they encounter tribes. Nick mentioned that they are all pretty open to accepting Christ, even the elders, however the Warriors called Morones are completely opposed and claim they "do not need a God", very sad but that seems to be the mentality.
They will be leaving Saturday morning and heading to the Samburu National Forest where apparently there is more wildlife. On Monday they will return to Nairobi where they will stay in a hotel that night and get a "real" shower (yea for them and for the people on their plane!). They leave Kenya Tuesday night...getting close...im looking forward to a hug from my hubby!
God Bless!

Day 5
Today went well in the field, they went to two villages to spread the Good Word. They are still seeing a ton of baboons and monkeys. Todays conversation was a bit somber. Please keep my sweet husband and his mission partners in your prayers. While at dinner last night in the courtyard, one of the guys they are with overheard some guys talking about robbing our men and plotting how they are going to do it. These men just happen to be Somalian rebels with guns. There is some unrest going on in the region having to do with Muslims and Somalian Rebels....I feel like I'm in a bad movie. PLEASE, I'm asking you to pray for our men. Not in five minutes, not later but please say a prayer for them as you read this. Nick played it off (i believe for my sake)to be nothing big. But I know my husband and I know this is not good. I pray for him every time I think of him. Thank you again for all of your support, I appreciate it now and I know he will when he gets home which is in 6 days! 11.11 5:15pm...

Day 4
My call came in around 930 am this morning, absolutly makes my day better when I hear from him. :) This morning they got a late start but headed out to the villages again where they encountered a tribe with 22 people and loooooots of babies. He mentioned the women are baby machines and have lots of them! They went to one village where they were turned away, Dub said it was the first time that had happened. They saw zebra, several ostrich, and camels. For breakfast they have something similar to pita bread cooked in oil, chips and a sopapilla type of biscuit. Nick sounds like he is enjoying his time but also sounds tired. Today was hard for me, I had a really bad day and nothing makes my day better than a huge hug from my sweet hubby. Im missing him more and more every day. God Bless and have a wonderful night!

Day 3
Todays phone call came in around 11:30 and they were just about getting ready to go to bed. Nick described their rooms and his is 10' by 7' with a shower in it (but no running water) and a hole in the ground for their toilet. There is a dishrag used as a drape for one of the two windows. They got new 'mattresses' today which he equated to basically going to rooms to go and getting the cheapest kids mattress and then cut it in half and that is the final product...very uncomfortable. He will definiatly appreciate his bed and pillow when he gets home!
Today they traveled quite far to get to their destination where the UN was distributing food to the Samburu tribe. There were about 160 children and adults and about 60 babies from just weeks old to about 6 months. All of them accepted Christ! that is a total of 270+ now! He mentioned that the fathers sell their daughters to potential husbands around 10 years old and they begin having babies about at about 12. Im not sure how old the husbands are that buy the wives.
Their dinner consisted of rice, french fries, beans, slaw, carrots and sweet goat meat, ill spare the details on the process of the meat from living animal to table!
The weather has been beautiful at about 80-85 degrees during the day and cool at night. It has rained every day which is a blessing for them since they have had a horrible drought and famine for the past two years. There are no mosquitos! He spoke with a child that had a huge scar across his due to a hyena attack. He also spoke with a man who was attacked by a lion and lost most of his leg. Today they saw baboons, monkeys and goats (dont think they ate any of them! haha)
Jason is their driver, Patrick helps out as well. John is a member of the Samburu tribe that basically dropped everything to help with the missions and is now a full time preacher that goes with Dub on his missions in that region. Johana is fromt he Massai tribe and is with them as well, he has invited Nick to come back and bring Layne and me as well to the Massai nation, which supposedly is safer.
We had a nice long chat today...15 minutes! I will not take our long conversations for granted in the future. I love him....I miss him...

Day two in the field
Nick called about 915am to report that all is going very well. They had 60 people accept Christ! His friend Tom that he went with spoke to his wife yesterday and she relayed to me that there were 50 yesterday. So amazing and so proud of them both. Unfortunatly I had a lot of questions for him about home stuff so I did not get to talk much about what is going on there. I thought today would be the hardest day...today is Nicks and my one year anniversary! I cant help but think though what a great way to remember that Nick brought 60 people to Christ! I have spent the day with Layne who has been so great and has stepped up as the man of the house while Nick is away. We went to cornerstone ministry this morning at 530am to feed the homeless, then church, then lunch with friends then I took a nice looooong nap. We have amazing friends and I thank you so very much for all of their support for both Nick and me while he is away....thank you to all and God Bless!
